We left Austin Wednesday around noon and headed for Dallas, which was only a 3 hour drive. We had been very excited about Dallas in the beginning, but after being told by John (who we stayed with in Austin), that the Deep Ellum area is now basically a crack den, our excitement had wained. Alas, we continued on and gave ole' Dallas a chance... after-all, my beautiful black son/puppy is named after this great place! We decided that we would forgo Deep Ellum, since our supply of street drugs was still plentiful (that's a joke everyone :), and instead decided to have a little down time. Meredith went and had "the best mani/pedi of her LIFE" and Allison and I hung out at a coffee shop downtown and caught up on phone calls and blogging.

Once we all got back together, we went and hopped on the M-line, which is a trolley that runs 365 days a year and gives you a free ride around the city and downtown areas. And although our trolley operator was one of the most severely socially-awkward human beings I've ever encountered, it was really enjoyable! The trolley was air-conditioned which was great considering it was 109 degrees outside. We rode around for a while, tried to get information from our driver about where to go and what to see, only to receive blank stares and information about the buildings around us which he said were "really old" and built in the 90's. It was getting close to dinner time, so Meredith hit up her Yelp app again and found a tapas bar called Si Tapas and Spanish Cuisine. So we got off the trolley and walked about a mile to get some grub. We may have been slightly whiny about the distance and the heat, but this place was SO worth it. Hands down the best meal of the trip. We split a pitcher of Sangria and a bunch of tapas that were ALL amazing. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

It was delicious! After this we walked another 1/2 mile back to the car and went to the hotel. We ended up staying at a Baymont Inn that was really nice, and we got a great deal because of the hotel tonight app that gave us a $25 off coupon for signing up. And then Meredith referred me and we BOTH got another $25 coupon to use in the future. GENIUS!!
what is this app? i want to get in on it!
